Guns N’ Roses in Nashville

Guns N’ Roses are coming to Nashville on October 22nd and we will be there. They are going to be rocking the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

It is just 3 days before my area paper defense but I figured this is something not to be missed. I am just hoping to be ready for my defense by then but even if I will not be, it will be a great boost before the defense.

We are very excited about it and looking forward to a great show.

Here is a short video of them playing Sweet Child of Mine at Bilbao Live festival:

Tune of the Week: The Thieves

This week’s Tune of the Week comes from The Thieves. You can get more info about the band at their website. Their latest album Tales from the White Lines has been released last year.

The Thieves are also originated from England like Kerbslider but they are now situated in LA.

You can listen to some of their tunes here. They also have a Myspace page with 4 more songs.

The song I chose from them is: It Still Goes On

PS: You noticed the little inline flash mp3 player next to the song name, right? Good.

Tune of the Week: Manda and the Marbles

Manda and the Marbles is now an old favorite of mine. They are a new wave/punk/power pop group from Columbus, Ohio. But the sad news is that they may not be together anymore. They don’t seem to be doing new shows and putting out new songs. Nevertheless, they were (are) a great band with very energetic power pop songs.

They are on Myspace with more songs. They also have some mp3’s available here.

My Tune of the Week from Manda and the Marbles this week is one of my favorite songs on their Angels with Dirty Faces album Kids Just Wanna Dance. Enjoy.

Bonus: I found a quick street interview video of them on You Tube:

Tune of the Week: Nathan Asher and The Infantry

When I first heard Nathan Asher and The Infantry last week I knew he would be the feature of Tune of the Week for this week. I loved his lyrics and my favourite song was the Turn up the Faders. His lyrics are powerful and the song is fun to listen.
He sounded like Bright Eyes (I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning) to me but a bit more fast and loud.

His myspace page has some of his songs from his album Sex Without Love and they are worth a listen as well.

So, my tune of the week for this week is Turn up the Faders. As a bonus for this week, I also give you the music video as well. Enjoy.

Tune of the Week: Kerbslider

This past week, I found myself listening to?a British rock band over and over again: Kerbslider. They have a very nice sound and I loved their songs. They have a Myspace page as well where you can listen to more songs from them. They are also making some of their mp3’s available for download here.

Jason has a nice review of them at Insomnia Radio as well.

So without further ado,? my favourite tune for this week is Manufactured Me from Kerbslider. Enjoy, and let me and/or them know if you liked their music.

Tune of the Week

Starting from today, I decided to make Tuesday’s the day for my Tune of the Week posts. Each week I will choose a non-RIAA track that I like and post it here for your listening pleasure. I know I missed several weeks for the regular PhD Cliche of The Week posts but I will keep up with the tunes. Actually, I will get on track with the??PhD Cliche of The Week?posts as soon as I am done with my area paper. For now, it is easier to post mp3’s.

Let’s move on to the music, shall we? From all those tracks that I love, I chose Under the Weather from a band called Three Man. They are a Buffalo, NY based rock band and I heard them on Insomnia Radio. I am no good at describing how a music sounds but believe me it is good. To give you a better idea, they use the tagline “Heavy Rock with echoes of Alice in Chains, Metallica and Black Sabbath” on their CD Baby page.

Give it a listen and buy the track or their CD from Amazon, iTunes, or CD Baby.
