Orhan Pamuk, a Turkish novelist, won the Nobel prize for literature. You can check out the Google News coverage about this. This is the first time a Nobel prize was awarded to a Turkish novelist. This is great news especially since I really like his work and writing style. He is a controversial person from a political stand point but he is one of the most valuable intellectuals to come out of Turkey.
