I was amazed when I read this article over at Creating Passionate Users. Kathy Sierra does a nice analogy between how the horses are being calmed down and how we can get a person calm down. Interestingly, it makes good sense at some parts. It is worth a read.
Fred Wilson wonders if Bill Gates is a cat with nine lives and comes up with a great post. It is definetely a good read since Microsoft produced lots of buzz this past week because of the PDC.
With the importance Microsoft is starting to give to RSS they may manage to adopt themselves to the Web 2.0. However, I don’t think Web 2.0 is just RSS. Whatever Microsoft does at that point would probably be incremental innovation rather than a radical one since the disruptive technologies are already seem to be in place. Nevertheless, I think these are interesting times for my age group who missed the times when Bill Gates managed to come up with the disruptive PC 1.0.

One new feature of GMail that I noticed last week is the ability to customize the “From:” address on the outgoing messages to display another email address. This is very handy for me because couple of months ago I have started forwarding all my email to Gmail. One thing that was making me dependent on an email client was the fact that I needed to send emails from my main email address. This should complete my move to Gmail.
Google finally announced the long awaited blog search tool. The new search engine offers blog and feed search capabilities and can be reached at google.com/blogsearch or search.blogger.com.

The news is out today that eBay acquired Skype. The price is said to be “approximately $2.6 billion in up-front cash and eBay stock, plus potential performance-based consideration.”
There was much speculation on who would buy Skype after it was revealed that Skype was on the market for a buyer. eBay came as a surprise to me but I think it makes sense for them. Scoble says this would make selling things easier for eBay since they can tell and show now.
I guess we will see what happens next, and what eBay’s strategy will be to make use of one of the hottest companies/products in the world today.
