John Porcaro’s Burn Recovery

John Porcaro writes about the terrible burning accident he had on March 5. It is a terrible accident t and I am glad he is recovering. He put up a photo story of his recovery. You may find it gross but reality is sometimes gross, isn’t it?

It is Over

Well, my prelim is over. Now, I can get back to my normal life…It was not bad, but was not perfect either. Having an oral exam has it advantages and disadvantages. But I think I prefer oral exam to a written one because you have a better chance of explaining your answer.

Anyway, I am just happy that it is over with. This weekend, moving is in order. We are moving in to our own place. Details may come later. We are excited!

Ring 2 and My Prelim

I hope the only commonanlity between Ring 2 and my prelim is the date.

Thanks (!) to Hande for pointing out that “the second one, is even scarier than the first one”.

Wish me luck…

Google Code

Google announced today the launch of Google Code. It looks like an open-source software portal for Google tools, libraries and projects. There are couple RSS feeds to subscribe as well.

Connexions

Did you know about Connexions? From the home page:

Connexions is a rapidly growing collection of free scholarly materials and a powerful set of free software tools to help
* authors publish and collaborate
* instructors rapidly build and share custom courses
* learners explore the links among concepts, courses, and disciplines.

You should not expect that the courses and the modules to teach you all the details especially in the graduate level but it definetely serves perfectly when you need a quick reference or a summary of a topic either to get a quick start or to refresh your knowledge.

They also have a blog which is located under the Software heading. There is an RSS feed but I didn’t see any comment mechanism.

Flickr Sold to Yahoo?

Scoble wrote about the reaction of Catarina Fake of Ludicorp to the rumors that Flickr was sold to Yahoo. That reaction made me think that the rumors migth be true. Well, if so, it may be good for Flickr but I think I would not be that happy. Sometimes things are better when big corps don’t own them. We will see about that, I guess.
