Mercury News reports today that Yahoo is launching a new search tool today. Below is an excerpt from the report:
Yahoo is unveiling a new tool today to allow Internet surfers to search for online information specifically related to an article or other content as they read it.
A test version of the Y!Q tool searches the Internet for “contextually relevant” content with a single click of the mouse. Those results are then displayed in a pop-up window over the same page where the search began.
“It’s about relevance, getting users the most possibly relevant thing we can provide,” said Aaron Ferstman, spokesman for Sunnyvale-based Yahoo.
The new search tool should be available for download at next.yahoo.com. It is possible to download the new tool as a toolbar or embedded into a web site.
